History behind the charity
CAFS is a new organisation born out of the closure of Home-Start Stoke-on-Trent, a voluntary sector family support service that has been operating in the city of Stoke-on-Trent for 30 years.
There is ongoing significant need for support of children and families in Staffordshire, especially with the austerity measures affecting local authorities and statutory services. Indeed Home-Start was a unique service providing flexible, friendly and long term support for many families.
Its closure means that there will be a gap in services and many families and children will go without much needed support. It is proposed that CAFS will provide similar support to children and their families across Staffordshire.
Who runs the charity?
CAFS is guided and governed by a group of trustees. These are people who offer their time voluntarily and come from varying professional backgrounds i.e. legal, management, health, education, finance.
